Cleaning the Fridge

I decided to clean our fridge today!

Though I do not enjoy housecleaning activities, I thought it might be interesting to clean our fridge as I never did that before. Following are a few photos that pretty much explain how I cleaned the fridge today!

As clean as it can get!
I found a cool place to hang out.

Broken bottle of fruit juice.
Broken bottle and juice spill - picture perfect!

There is beauty in broken things, isn't it? :)

Since I don't get to take a picture with a broken bottle all the time!
It's okay to be obsessed with taking pictures but be aware of the environmental hazards. -Lesson Learnt
The kitchen floor now smells of fruit!

Cleaning the fridge isn't an easy task to do. It does get boring if there are no broken bottles or spills to clean. Though cleaning and organizing might take a couple of hours, the neatly organized and clean look of the fridge is so nice to look at!

Happy cleaning! :D

Everyday conversation: part unknown ;)

Sru and I argue as we talk on phone with mom.

Me: Huh. I won't fight. I am doing yoga so that I will have peace of mind. (In a calm voice)
Sru: huh

Mom: hmm...so you are doing yoga so that you won't irritate Sruthi.
Me: NO. I am doing yoga so that when Sru irritates me I won't lose my peace of mind.

Sru got more support than I do in my family.😪

Sru looks at my sweatshirt and this is what happens!

Sru: :-O 😳do not tell me you wear this?!
Me: yes I do.
Sru: yuck😖
Me: that's my cooking sweatshirt. I wear it each time I cook. it got chocolate on it. (Looks at the chocolate stains and other stains on the sweat shirt, impressed) 😊
Sru: :-/ :-O 😱 (basically speechless)
Me: it's like, you wear apron at work and I wear this sweatshirt when I cook. It inspires me. And, I am not washing it anytime soon.
Sru: (still speechless) :-/😱

Mom: Kali said Sru told her to be cool at all times and not be upset over petty things.
Me: did not she say about anything I taught her?
Sru: what did you teach her? Other than saying baby and sweet heart and love you?
Me: well...that's important too.
Mom: Kali respects Sruthi.
Me: what about me??
Mom: huh... she loves you. Like she totally blindly loves you.
Me: 😊 :-)

Just my thoughts

I think the protests in India over the arrest of Devyani Khobragade are ridiculous and nothing but foolish political tactics. But I am so glad for the justice that is being done for the true victim.

From all of this, I hope We realize that Underpaid wages and mistreatment of domestic helps/maids....no matter how we want to justify...is still a form of slavery and take steps to end it.

Winter struggle: A bird's nightmare

I love snow. I love storms.  A snow storm, needless to say makes me happy. It feels magical to look at the snow flakes being swiftly carried by the wind and accumulating on the ground like a pure white carpet.

But this afternoon, I saw something that made me wonder if  I should quit being so happy about snowy days. I saw a couple of hundred (hmm..a bit exaggerating I am ;) )birds in our back yard. These birds were flying here and there, trying to find a better shelter from the freezing wind. I really felt bad but there was really nothing that I could do other than wish for no bird to freeze to death.

Nature could be really harsh sometimes. Yet the beauty of nature lies in it's harshness...the harshness to which none of us are immune.
Desperate attempts to hide from the freezing winds and snow fall.

Birds trying to find a cozy corner. I also, did see a couple of birds hiding behind a tree trunk on the ground.
These birds flew each time the wind blew..trying to find a warmer shelter.

After a couple of minutes, all these birds flew away. Do not know where. But I did leave a card box outside with bird feed in it, in case a bird get an idea to hide in it.

I shall post the picture of my cardboard box later.

Stay warm,
Archana

Winter trees!

Driving through Pennsylvania last week, Sru and I saw that there were icicles hanging on the sides of the hill and also that all the trees, grass and plants were completely frozen. All the trees looked as if they were made of crystals and shined bright like diamonds as the sun rays passed through them.

I couldn't get a good picture or a video....but never the less it is one of the most beautiful thing I ever saw.

I hope you get to see it too!

Here are few more pictures on our way to Maryland!
